Swod

July 3, 2008

Swod is the recording project of Oliver Doerell (Belgium) and Stephan Wohrmann, two accomplished musicians who met in Berlin sometime in 1991. Oliver plays guitar, bass and all manner of electronics. Stephan plays piano and drums, arranging an almost neo-classical structure within a recording that already sounds ghostly and cinematic.

Modeselektor – One of Thom York’s favorite bands

June 27, 2008

And that says it all.

Modeselektor formed in Berlin, featuring Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary. The group draws heavily from IDM, glitch, electro and hip hop. They produce all their material with self-developed software and MIDI controllers.

In 1999 Modeselektor signed its first remix contract and began working with Pfadfinderei, a Berlin based VJ and design collective. In 2000, Modeselektor met Ellen Allien, making BPitch Control their home label. Modeselektor has also been involved in collaborative efforts; Moderat – a musical collaboration between Modeselektor and Apparat, Pfadselektor – a music/visual collaboration between Modeselektor and Pfadfinderei, and with Rhythm & Sound’s Paul St. Hillaire.
