Elsiane – Bringer back of memories

October 12, 2008

I am glad to see that I haven’t reached that stage in my life where I say: “They don’t make good music as they used to back in my days.”

Elsieanne Caplett’s voice is organic, like she’s the one actually raising the hair on my body, while Stephane Sotto’s drums torture your perceptions. A wonderful hybrid.

Howie B – The undisputed truth – How it is.

October 2, 2008

This great song is a classic motown tune, that was taken by DJ Howie B in 2001 and transformed into an incredible trip-hop, downtempo piece. Loved it for years, but didn’t find it anywhere. Luckily, music blogs came to my rescue and I to the rescue of all youtubers:

Silent Strike

September 12, 2008

Silent Strike is Ioan Titu, a young talented Romanian artist. Here in Romania, you can easily count someone’s talent by the number of important openings for big artists. Silent Strike opened for most of them, so he is kind of making this a trademark. There are lots of other Romanian artists, but what I noticed in Silent Strike’s show is that he is very professional: he’s not just filling dead space – he’s making a real show, which is a step forward for the Romanian scene.

Big up!

Many artists who came to visit and concert in our country have made the mistake of saying: “Good evening Budapest”. The public would naturally disagree in any way possible as our capital is, even if no one cares, Bucharest. However, no matter how much I love my country, I must admit that Hungary is a much bigger landmark on the music map. Just take for example this artist here. I am fascinated and incredibly in love with what he’s doing.

One down – a million others to see

August 2, 2008

So, we had a little class reunion tonight: 80% of the blog authors gathered to watch what I would call one of the greatest bands in the world: Massive Attack. I don’t know if the others share my opinion, but by the likes of their screams, I think they do. The sound was perfect, their interaction with the public also showed they had training, and the playlist was incredible.

The next song wasn’t in the concert, but it has something that reminds me of the days I used to listen to Karmacoma up to 20 times a day.

False Flags

Peace Orchestra – Shinning

July 31, 2008

I knew this song from one of the memorable trip-hop mixes from, THE website for trip-hop amateurs. It’s lovely and profound in some way. Makes you think. Or not. Just chill.

If you didn’t know already (like me, for example), Peace Orchestra is the solo project of the Viennese trip-hopdub producer Peter Kruder, best known as one half of Kruder & Dorfmeister.
