Backini began in 2004 with the release of first album ‘Threads’. The album was produced by Rob Quickenden using random old samples carefully nicked from charity shop records. This randomness led to a quirky, off-beat style with lots of humor and a slightly dark edge, especially when layered with fat beats, bass and synth sounds. Rob decided to form a band to perform his tunes live and started with guitarist Jeff Bruce-Hay (who had co-written a few tracks on ‘Threads’) and drummer Kristian Cockburn. The band has now developed in to a nine piece extravaganza.
